Sara Johnson Obituary

Sara Ann Johnson, age 55, passed away April 2, 2019 in Newton, Alabama with her family by her side.

She was born August 14, 1963 in Newnan, Georgia. Sarah loved God and truly had the heart of a servant; putting others needs before her own, as a faithful caretaker of her husband William and their three children.

For 36 years Sara and her husband, resided in Panama City and faithfully attended Highland Park Apostolic Church. With their faith and sheer determination, they relocated to Newton, Alabama where they began to rebuild their lives after the loss of their home during hurricane Michael. While there, they faithfully attended New Life Gospel Center in Headland, Alabama until Sara suffered a stroke and her health began to decline. One of the greatest joy’s in their lives were their grandchildren, whom they absolutely adored.

Sara and Bill lived lives of honesty, integrity, faith, compassion for others, and thankfulness. Less than 48 hours after Sara’s passing William joined her in their heavenly home above. Although it’s a tremendous loss, the family has peace in knowing they are together just as they both would have wanted. Sara will be deeply missed by her family and friends; the warmth of her love and embrace, and the care she gave to others will never be forgotten.

Sara is preceded in death by her parents, JB and Barbara Hawthorne; and brother Thomas Hawthorne.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, William Evan Johnson; three daughters, Sara Faircloth, Jessy Messick and husband Jason, and Beth Day; four grandsons, Cadin Faircloth, and Tristian, Mason, and Patrick Messick; one granddaughter, Izabella Michelle Ann Faircloth; three brothers, Greg Hawthorne and wife Gwen, Blane Hawthorne and wife Lottie and Chris Hawthorne; biological mother, Sara Davis; distant siblings to include three brothers and two sisters; and many extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Covenant Care Hospice and Nurse Kim Enfinger.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at New Life Gospel Center in Headland, Alabama with pastor Jimmy Steege officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Hartford, Alabama.
