William Evan Johnson, age 64, passed away April 4, 2019 in Newton, Alabama with his family by his side. He was born December 21, 1954 to Joseph and Garnett Evans Johnson in St. Louis, Missouri. Bill loved God and hard work, he found fulfillment in taking care of his family and providing for his wife and three daughters. Among his many skills, Bill was a talented electrician, and his creativity was evident in his wood working and photography. He also enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.
For 36 years Bill and his wife, resided in Panama City where they faithfully attended Highland Park Apostolic Church. With faith and sheer determination, they relocated to Newton, Alabama and began to rebuild their lives after the loss of their home during hurricane Michael. While there, they faithfully attended New Life Gospel Center in Headland, Alabama until his wife Sara suffered a stroke and her health began to decline. In their later years they were blessed with five beautiful grandchildren, who they truly adored and provided them so much joy.
Bill and Sara lived lives of honesty, integrity, faith, compassion for others, and thankfulness. Less than 48 hours after Sara’s passing William joined her in their heavenly home above. Although it’s a tremendous loss, the family has peace in knowing they are together just as they both would have wanted. Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends; his legacy of hard work, generosity, and the love of others will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Sara Ann Johnson; and his parents.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Sara Faircloth, Jessy Messick and husband Jason, and Beth Day; four grandsons, Cadin Faircloth, and Tristian, Mason, and Patrick Messick; one granddaughter, Izabella Michelle Ann Faircloth; one sister Brenda Rhys-Evans; and many extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at New Life Gospel Center in Headland, Alabama with pastor Jimmy Steege officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Hartford, Alabama.
