John David Gentry

John D. Gentry, age 77, of Hartford, Alabama passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama. He was born August 30, 1943, to Harvey and Clara Whited Gentry in Talladega, Alabama. John lived in Valparaiso, Indiana, and worked for 40 years at Mittel Steel Mill, in Burns Harbor Indiana. He loved fishing and enjoyed trying out new recipes. John loved his family dearly and he will be missed by all who knew him.   

John is preceded in death by; his parents, Harvey and Clara Whited Gentry; granddaughter, Alyssa Benson; brother- in-law John Kacmar; father and mother-in-law John and Ruth Kacmar.     

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Gentry; two sons, Anthony Gentry and Henry Gentry and wife Angela; four sisters, Joanne McDonald, Brenda Beilema and husband Larry, Kathy Townsend and husband Bruce, and Jean Kiker; one brother, Earnest Gentry and wife Sandy; one sister-in-law Dawn Kacmar; three grandson's, Zackary Benson, Payton Benson and Henry Gentry Jr.; one granddaughter Megan Bauswell; and many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 5, 2021 in the chapel of Magnolia Funeral Home, 507 West Main Street, Hartford, Alabama 36344, beginning at 11 a.m. with Reverend Father Richard Dawson officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home Hartford, Alabama.
