Johnny Ray Venable

Johnny Ray Venable of Daleville, Alabama passed away Thursday May 6, 2021 in Dothan, Alabama. He was born April 25, 1949 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Willard and Mary Caytes Venable. Johnny loved spending time in the garden growing Proud Land Roses for his wife Pam. In fact, they loved the deep dark rose so much they named their homestead Proud Land. He could also be seen out and about cruising on his white corvette or volunteering at the Enterprise Rehabilitation Center. Johnny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  It was always a treat when “Paw Paw” cooked, especially when he made his famous Jambalaya. Johnny made his mark as a working man and spent 32 years at PPG Industries in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Carolyn Hyde of Lake Charles, Louisiana.  

Johnny is survived by his faithful wife of 27 years, Pansy (Pam) Jones Venable; one son, Craig Lewis; one daughter, Melissa Starnes and husband Ralph; 6 grandchildren, Christy and Lexi Lewis, Tiffany Fontenot and husband Chad of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Amanda Dewitz and husband Jeff of Bulverde, Texas, Jamie Homrich and husband Robert of Savannah, Georgia and Tyler Davis of Sulphur, Louisiana; 6 great-grandchildren, Bree-lee Gerie, Wyatt Allen, Vivian Jo Homrich, Jordan Lewis, Bella Courville and Blake Dewitz; a special niece, Kelsey Rakes and numerous other nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021  beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Magnolia Funeral Home 507 West Main Street Hartford, Alabama. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior. Committal services will follow at Mount Carmel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on County Road 40, in Coffee Springs, Alabama.
